Where?
You’d be based out of Britannia House in the heart of the city centre

What’s great about this job?
Bradford’s on the rise, currently overseeing one of the most ambitious place making programmes in the UK. All of which naturally puts local plan making in the spotlight, with all the new housing and economic growth to help generate. So, a vibrant city in the heart of Yorkshire - what’s not to love?

Fun fact 
The Curry Capital of Britain? Sure - but get this: Bradford is also famous for its role in filmmaking, having once beat Los Angeles, Cannes and Venice to become the world’s first UNESCO City of Film.

2. GET A SENSE OF DACORUM’S FUTURE

What?
Strategic planning & regeneration officer (strategic planning), Dacorum Borough Council

Where?
“Dacorum is an attractive Hertfordshire borough comprising Hemel Hempstead new town, the market towns of Berkhamsted and Tring and a range of smaller historic villages.”

What’s great about this job?
Big moves afoot in leafy Hertfordshire. This role calls for someone to play a major part in the team working on Dacorum’s new Local Plan which seeks to balance growth against safeguarding the special characteristics of our area. Dacorum is also working with its neighbouring authorities on a Joint Strategic Plan for South West Hertfordshire.
 
Fun fact 
Dacorum is latin for ‘Hundred of the Dacians’ - with ‘Dacians’ a mistakenly heard word for ‘Danes’. Turns out Dacorum was, for a time, the lowest edge of the Danelaw ‘empire’.

3. GROW YOUR REPUTATION IN LINCOLNSHIRE

What?
Growth manager, Boston Borough Council

Where?
Boston, Lincolnshire.

What’s great about this job?
Small council, big job. There’s much to do on the council’s local plan, which will set the pace for future development in the borough. And it’s a high profile position, too - you’ll report directly to the deputy chief executive. Plenty of relationship development required for this one, and understandably so: it’s key to the borough’s future development.

Fun fact
Boston is, according to legend, named after St Botolph - and the Royal Town Planning Institute is headquartered on London’s Botolph’s Lane. It’s a sign!
