Development Management Team Leader
Maldon District lies within easy reach of London and yet, according to The Times, is England’s “best countryside location.” It combines very attractive countryside with 75 miles of coastline, vibrant market towns and historic villages.
It is, however, not a ‘sleepy backwater.’ The District is experiencing unprecedented growth and the Council is balancing the provision of significant levels of housing, employment and infrastructure with the protection of the rural and coastal character, whilst encouraging an ’open for business’ approach towards attracting inward investment and economic development. The Council has moved into the delivery phase of its Local Plan, which is in its latter stages and is expected to be adopted this summer.
As a result of this unparalleled growth, exciting opportunities have arisen within the award winning Development Management Team of the Year (The Planning and Placemaking Awards 2016). These offer a varied and stimulating caseload where two days are never the same. We offer a supportive working environment where there are constant opportunities for your own personal development and professional growth.
As the Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in managing a vibrant Development Management Service. You will lead and manage a highly-performing, busy and committed team of 10 and their workload, relating to all types of applications and appeals. In addition, you will provide guidance to elected Members at Planning Committees and also to the Council’s enforcement staff.
You will have proven high levels of professional expertise and judgement, as well as caring passionately about delivering excellent customer service. This can be demonstrated by the continuous identification and implementation of improvement and help increase the level of customer satisfaction levels through improving service delivery.
The Council is fortunate to have a committed and focused workforce which consistently demonstrates a flexible ‘one team’ approach and it will be looking to you to provide strong and decisive leadership in this time of change. We want to hear from you if you have a positive ‘can do’ attitude and believe implicitly in transformation and putting our residents first.
