The Development Management Team in Strategic Planning requires a highly motivated Development Management Officer.

Reporting to the Development Planning Manager you will be able to work under your own initiative, with limited supervision, and manage your time and workload.

Your main focus will be as a development management case officer for County Matter (minerals and waste) and County Council planning applications. This may include some major applications and Environmental Impact Assessment applications. This will include attendance at the Planning Regulatory Committee. Having the essential qualifications, you will have a good understanding and knowledge of development management practices, policies and procedures. The role is critical to supporting the development management service.

You will also have excellent IT and communication skills as well as good political awareness and project and personal management skills. You will need be confident in dealing with the public, other public bodies, industry representatives and relevant specialists and have the ability to ensure that a good quality customer service is provided to all customers.

You may also be required to work flexibly across other areas of the section and the wider Waste, Planning and Environment service, particularly in relation to its planning and other environmental functions.

Whilst this role is predominately office based, you would be expected to undertake site visits and attend meetings at other locations.
