Principal Policy Officer Minerals Waste
The Minerals and Waste Policy Team requires a highly motivated Principal Policy Officer with a strong work ethic to support its work within the wider Strategic Planning section.
Reporting to the Project Manager (Minerals and Waste Policy) you will be able to work under your own initiative, with limited supervision, and manage your time and workload.
Your main focus will be to implement and monitor the adopted Hampshire Minerals and Waste Plan, and deliver the associated monitoring reports and surveys. The role is also critical to supporting the County’s Minerals and Waste traded services work for other parties. You will also be required to work flexibly across other areas of the Waste, Planning and Environment service, particularly in relation to its planning and other environmental functions.
With good IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Office and GIS systems, you will have experience of planning policy and plan-making. Experience of minerals and waste planning would be ideal but not essential.
You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral, and will need to be confident in dealing with the public, other public bodies, industry representatives and relevant specialists. You will also ensure that a good quality customer service is provided when dealing with enquiries.
Having the essential qualifications, you will have a genuine interest in minerals and waste planning and the environment.
Whilst this role is predominately office based, you would be expected to undertake site visits and attend meetings at other locations.
