The Planning Applications Team is working hard to maintain high performance levels and, as a result of a high volume of applications and staff changes, is looking to recruit to a new permanent senior planner post. Our high workloads mean that we have lots of opportunities for our case officers to develop their knowledge and learn new skills. Whilst it is a busy office, we operate as a very supportive team.
You may already be a senior planner, used to working independently on a small number of key developments and working closely with District Councillors and Parish Councils but looking for a new challenge. Or you may be an experienced planner, used to high volume minor applications with a strong focus on time management and “customer care” and now seeking promotion.
In this role, you will be expected to take a positive approach to development and have an ability to work in a political environment. You will have robust skills in assessing the urban design and landscape merits of a proposal. It would be helpful if you have experience of public inquiries as well as presenting items to Committee.
You should have a degree or postgraduate qualification in planning or related discipline and be a full member of the RTPI.
