The Planning Applications Team is working hard to maintain and improve performance – last year it produced the best performance ever. As a result the Council is looking to recruit further Planners to help meet the challenge of working in a busy, diverse planning authority based in the historic town of Stratford –on-Avon and whose district boundaries extend into the Cotswolds AONB and the West Midlands Green Belt.
The successful candidate will need to quickly get up to speed with a heavy caseload with limited supervision. You should be enthusiastic, with drive and an ability to deal with a range of planning proposals, both rural and urban market towns development, and have a positive approach to development. The Planners Team has an excellent rapport with the Planning Committee, District Councillors and Parish Councils which ensures an excellent working environment for Planners to ensure we achieve good quality development across the district.
You will be responsible for a varied caseload focussed on minor applications of all types, occasionally presenting applications to Committee meetings and supporting the work of the team generally. You should have a degree or postgraduate qualification in planning or related discipline and either be a member of or working towards membership of the RTPI. Experience of relevant casework is essential.
