About the role
A Local Authority based in the Essex area is currently looking for a temporary Senior Planning Officer to assist their Development Management team as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will join the team to assist the council on mixed caseload of major and minor applications of up to 35 unit dwellings. You will be assisting in their current caseload as well as taking on your own new applications. This role involves dealing with some pre applications as well.
The consultant will have the ability to liaise with developers and monitor the other team members and their caseloads when needed. It is essential that you have previous experience using the uniform system and relevant knowledge on basic IT skills such as Microsoft Office programmes. In addition, you will deliver effective and efficient development management service, undertake site visits, draft reports and attend committee meetings.
The successful candidate will ideally have a few years of experience in a Local Authority based Planning Development Management role and be confident in undertaking Major strategic planning. A chartered and qualified planner (MRTPI) is preferred but not essential.
This contract is an initial 3 month contract with the possibility of extension and the pay rate is negotiable depending on your experience. My client is ideally looking for you to interview this week and start as soon as possible; however, they are prepared to wait for up to 2 weeks for the preferred applicant.
