An opportunity has arisen in the Council’s Development and Enforcement Team for a Senior Planning Officer.

We are looking for an experienced and qualified planner who will help support the delivery of a high quality, effective, efficient and customer focussed service in a systems thinking manner. The role will involve managing a case load of complex and contentious applications, including major applications and enforcement related cases.

You will provide professional advice on a range of planning matters to customers, Members of the Council and others as necessary. They will be expected to support and guide planning officers within the Team, negotiate with applicants and agents to achieve high quality outcomes, to support the Enforcement arm of the service, to prepare appeals and provide expert evidence at Informal Hearings and Public Inquiries in respect of planning and enforcement matters as necessary.

You will need to have a relevant degree or professional qualification, a sound knowledge of current planning legislation, relevant experience in development management and possess excellent communication and advisory skills. A driving licence and access to a car for business use is essential.
