Head of Development Management
This Sussex-based Local Planning Authority are looking for a Head of Development Management on an initial 4-6 month contract with the opportunity to roll on thereafter.
You shall hold responsibility for approx. 50 members of staff, spanning across two Planning teams (bisected by major and minor planning applications), the Enforcement team alongside the Business Support function (inclusive of Land Charges). The LPA stems with development shown by their annual influx of 3000 minor applications and their above-average 80 major applications.
You shall not have an allocated caseload for this role however, you will be required to advise on applications that present matters of specific contention or complexity.
The ideal candidate will hold a post-graduate qualification in Town Planning or an associated field. You will have also amassed practical experience in dealing with minor, major and strategic applications within a UK Local Planning Authority in addition to holding a position of Seniority - involving either direct line management or mentoring within a Development Control service.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills alongside their ability to drive performance. Chartership at the Royal Town Planning Institute is preferred but not essential.
