This is an exciting time to join the Council as we look to strengthen service delivery by recruiting a Principal Planner. You will lead, develop and support the Development Management Team in delivering the Council’s objectives, including providing technical planning advice to help support the delivery of a number of corporate projects in conjunction with other Council officers and external partners. You will be able to demonstrate a passion for your work along with a commitment to continuing the digitalisation of the Service, with a great emphasis on performance management whilst maintaining high standards of customer care.
You will be an ambitious planner, able to demonstrate significant experience and knowledge of the planning system, legislation, policies and procedures, as well as the plan making process. You will have experience in being an expert witness at Public Inquiries as well as negotiating complex S106 agreements, viability assessments and EIA development. A Chartered member of the RTPI, you will have proven experience of working in a Senior Planning role, ideally within Local Government as you will need to advise elected Members on all planning matters.
