St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Our refurbished offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. In short, it is a great place to live and work.

We are looking for two talented and motivated individuals to join our growing team dealing with over 3,700 planning applications a year, including 50 major schemes. In the pipeline, we have proposals for major infrastructure, education and retail schemes, as well as development at two world-leading research establishments (Buildings Research Establishment and Rothamsted Research).

You will lead on the consideration and negotiation of complex planning applications, to deliver quality decisions and help manage a team of professionals providing advice on all aspects of planning to a wide range of clients. This includes presenting to committees, engaging with colleagues, Councillors and other stakeholders, to ensure the right planning outcome.  A good communicator, you will have a strong commitment to excellent customer service and an enthusiastic approach to work.

So if you are an innovative and solution-focused individual, then this is the ideal opportunity for you to help shape our beautiful City and District. As one of the busiest Planning Authorities in the country, and with a new draft Strategic Plan identifying major development in the Green Belt, and a recently announced Enterprise Zone, it’s an exciting time to join us!

We offer a competitive package which includes up to 28 days annual leave, pension scheme, RTPI professional fees reimbursement, development and training opportunities, staff parking permit, flexible working options (including homeworking), leisure and travel discounts and a number of other benefits.

For an informal discussion, please contact Laurence Moore, Development Manager, on 01727 819527.
