As a Planner working at one of the leading planning authorities in England dealing with a wide range of planning issues, you'll have the potential to develop your career and make decisions that affect how people live in a positive way.

You will provide professional advice, guidance, interpretation and evaluation on all aspects of Development Management to service users to meet statutory and service requirements. You will also lead on the consideration and negotiation of planning applications and provide a decision recommendation on each application within statutory time limits, to continue to make St Albans an attractive place to live, work and visit for our residents, businesses and tourists.

You will ideally be a member of the RTPI, or be working towards being so, and hold a Town Planning qualification. Knowledge of the development management process, relevant regulations and policy guidance, knowledge of Conservation Area, Listed Building and Advertisement regulations and how these can be applied in practise would be an advantage.

An excellent communicator, you will also be IT literate with an aptitude for using development management software. A commitment to excellent customer service, a flexible approach to work and the ability to work to very strict deadlines, are essential qualities for this role.
