Senior Planners and Consultants

Due to the retirement of one of our senior members of staff and our growing workload, we have vacancies for permanent full-time town planners. Tyler Parkes is enjoying its 21 st year of business and is one of the largest independent planning consultancies in the West Midlands.

You will be joining a busy and experienced town planning and architectural team. We deal with all aspects of development management and policy planning, working on a whole variety of commercial and residential schemes, including planning appraisals, applications and appeals, enforcement and development planning work. Our clients include housebuilders, private land owners and the public sector.

We work predominantly in the West Midlands but also nationally, in both urban and rural areas, including Green Belt. Having in-house architectural staff means that you will be involved in many varied projects from the start through to permission and you will be given schemes for which you will be responsible from the outset. We have a great team spirit and a supportive work environment.

Depending on your work experience, your role may include: -

  • Leading on a range of projects;
  • Liaising and negotiating with various stakeholders including developers, other specialist consultants and planning officers;
  • Preparing documents for input into projects, such as planning support statements and appeal submissions;
  • Submitting representations to emerging local plan documents;
  • Presenting to planning committees, and appearing at hearings, inquiries and examinations; and
  • Identifying new business opportunities to expand the company’s client base.

To be successful, you must be a team player, be able to manage competing demands on your time and be self-motivated. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills. Your experience should be varied in terms of types and sizes of projects and you should be technically competent and computer literate. You should be MRTPI or working towards it. Experience in both the public and the private sectors would be an advantage, although not essential. In return, we offer an attractive remuneration package.

If you are interested and would like more information, please contact Glenda Parkes on 0121 744 5511. Applications are requested in the form of a CV which should be forwarded to and clearly marked ‘Planner Vacancies’. If you are not a UK or EU citizen, please provide evidence of your right to work in the UK on a permanent basis with your CV.

We look forward to hearing from you if you consider you are the right person to join our team.
