Our client is a South East London borough who has a number of education projects lined up over the next 3 years, totalling £80 million in value. They are seeking a candidate with significant experience of managing a capital delivery service to join them for a permanent role. The main purpose of the role is to provide strategic direction and leadership for the delivery the borough's Schools Programme and to contribute to the longer term DRES service plans. Managing a team of Project Managers you will lead on delivery from inception through to completion. Included in the role is procurement and contract management of a range of professional service providers and construction companies.

You will have responsibility for establishing and leading project teams, including external professional teams and take the lead on a council wide basis to ensure this programme connects to strategic developments within the borough. You will develop strategies and policies which ensure cross-council implementation of existing and new education capital projects, lead the work with schools, governing bodies and partners, and work with the Head of Asset Management, on the procurement of feasibility studies, surveys and costings for those schemes that may form part of an overall strategic asset management vision.

Applicants must have relevant experience managing complex, high value school capital programmes in a local authority. You will need to have knowledge and understanding of the legal, financial and procurement frameworks, comprehensive knowledge of national policy, legislation, statutory obligations and current thinking on complex forms of procurement, funding and procurement routes and record of delivery. You will also have experience of managing external providers of professional services, on a partnership basis and working with a range of stakeholders.

Ideally you will be educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline (MRICS or MCIOB) and have a Prince II or MSP qualification.

The annual salary offered is £57,501 - £60,525 and a job description available for this post.
