Development Control

This Surrey based Local Authority is on the lookout for a Senior/Principal Planning Officer. Due to their incredibly efficient transport link from Central London, it makes it an opportunistic location for an experienced planner to expand their skill-set by dealing with major and strategic applications within both urban and rural settings.

About the role

You will be required to take on a ranged caseload of major and complex planning applications and development control issues (involving Conservation Areas, Listed Buildings Consent, Green Belt matters etc.) whilst undertaking negotiations with applicants/prospective developers and representatives of other Council departments. This will involve preparing planning and site briefs for major development sites as well as negotiating complex S106 legal agreements.

Due to the landscape of the authority, a large proportion of your casework will consist of Town Centre redevelopments, strategic mixed-use schemes (circa. 200 unit residentials) and changes of use (industrial to commercial).

The client are also happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.

About you

The successful candidate will ideally be MRTPI accredited and must hold a degree relative to Town Planning. You should also have proven experience working on similar projects in the UK and knowledge to hit the ground running with little to no supervision.

You will have excellent knowledge of Planning Legislation whilst exercising a desire to keep knowledge up-to-date and maintaining competency to adapt to changing legislation.
