Assistant Planning Policy Officer
Planning Officers (Development Management and Planning Policy)
The Isle of Man has a unique and very special environment. It is the only country-wide Biosphere Reserve, has the world’s longest running continuous parliament and is home to the famous TT Road Races.
We are looking for enthusiastic planners to join our teams and contribute to our ambitious Programme for Government to ensure Planning helps to drive sustainable economic growth, respond to changing population pressures and keep the Island a special place to live and work.
As a self-governing Crown Dependency, the Isle of Man represents a unique opportunity for planners to get involved in all aspects of planning (from writing our own legislation -including permitted development, to policy to development management) within urban, rural and coastal contexts. The ongoing high-level review of the planning system, preparation of an Area Plan for Douglas and the East (Douglas being the Island’s largest town and commercial centre) and broad case-load of applications makes this an exciting time.
The island offers much in the way of recreational and cultural past-times including many land and sea-based sports and a variety of opportunities in respect of the arts. Employees can expect to enjoy a good work/life balance.
Specifically we are looking for:
- a Development Management Planning Officer (£34,738 to £40,574) on a Limited Term Appointment for 3 years (job reference DOEF 5426);
- three Planning Policy Officers (£34,738 – £40,574) (job reference 5435); and
- an Assistant Planning Policy Officer (£28,556 - £33,417) (job reference 5437).
It is envisaged that interviews will take place in Douglas during the week commencing 10th July 2017. Expenses would be available for candidates travelling from the UK or the Republic of Ireland. Interviews by skype would be considered for candidates in other areas.
Please note that in the event that the successful applicant is not an Isle of Man Worker, a Work Permit will be required. These can now be issued for up to 5 years (after 5 years of residence a permit is not required).
