Graduate Planning Officer (Development Management)
Eden District Council administers one of the most beautiful areas in England. The Council is about to embark on an exciting period of change and innovation with the implementation of a new bespoke IT system which will revolutionise the way planning and other services are delivered.
This newly created post offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the busy development management team determining planning applications, handling enquiries and making recommendations in line with local and national policies and guidelines.
We are looking for someone who is working towards or holds a degree in Town and Country Planning and can demonstrate a good knowledge of current planning issues and planning law. You will have excellent communication skills, be able to demonstrate that you can gather and interpret information from a wide range of sources to make effective decisions and recommendations and also show that you can manage and prioritise your time to meet deadlines.
There is a requirement for travel around the district from time to time and in order to effectively fulfil these requirements the post holder must be able to travel independently around the district. There is also a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends as required to carry out the duties of the post (once or twice a month).
