Spelthorne are offering an exciting and challenging opportunity to join our expanding Planning Policy team. We have begun a review of the Local Plan and this is a chance for you to become involved at an early stage.

Spelthorne lies in north-west Surrey with borders to the Thames Valley and south west London. Heathrow Airport is just north of the Borough and the river Thames to the south.  Over 65% of the Borough designated as green belt and large areas at flood risk.   With Heathrow announced as the government’s preferred location for airport expansion in the South East and two major rail proposals in the Borough, we will need to manage these opportunities and balance our strong economic position and consequent development pressures.

The post will involve a diverse range of work including helping to prepare the new Local Plan.  The successful candidate will need to have a flexible approach to work and have excellent problem solving and communication skills with some knowledge of the Local Plan system.

The post would be suitable for a recent planning graduate or someone with experience already and who is looking for the next step to develop their career.
