Planning Services Support Manager

Permanent Contract; 37 hours per week
Salary £25,951 - £27,668 (Subject to Job Evaluation)
A relocation package of up to £5,125 is available subject to eligibility

Eden District Council administers one of the most beautiful areas in England. This is a key time for the Council and we need people who are fully committed to helping us realise our ambitious goals and commercial aims for the future. In addition the Council has recently embarked on an exciting period of change and innovation with the implementation of a new bespoke digital platform which will revolutionise the way services, including planning are delivered. In fact the Planning service is leading the way in terms of the design and the implementation of this new system.

This newly created post offers an exciting challenge and the opportunity to lead and manage the new Planning Services Support Team (PSST). This team will need to excel at providing support to professional planning and building control officers through the delivery of effective, high quality, technical and administrative support.

For the opportunity to lead this new team you will have solid experience working within or closely with, at least one of the following disciplines:

  • Planning Development Application Validation
  • Building Control Application Validation
  • Local Land Charges

You will also be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and sound and effective people management and leadership skills, with the ability to prioritise and delegate effectively to meet multiple and competing deadlines.  A methodical approach is important as the role will require you to analyse information, problem solve and develop and implement solutions.
