Job Summary:

Engaged in the development of safety and integration improvement schemes in the Improvements Team in Area 4. Identifies improvement needs and undertakes the development of safety and integration schemes (studies, etc).

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

Main responsibilities e.g. health & safety, professional, technical operation, managerial, administrative:
Working in accordance with the bnusiness integrated Business Management System, ensuring that all scheme development follows the relevant processes and procedures.
Identifying improvement needs and entering these onto the business asset need management system such that they feed into the clients forward programme of improvement activities.
Initial development and preliminary design of schemes including drawings, reports and calculations, in accordance with Highway England's standards including the DMRB, IANs, MCHW, etc.
Assist the Improvements Lead in the preparation of improvement schemes for technical and scoring continuous value management workshops in accordance with the requirements of the latest revision of Highway England's Project Control Framework.
Carry out Road Safety Auditor duties.
Fully implements and performs all aspects of the job role in accordance with the relevant Competency Pathway Level (1-4) . The appropriate level of competency required by the job role will be identified through the team competency matrix.
In addition to the above responsibilities the job holder is required to perform any other reasonable duties that are within the jobholder's skills and experience capabilities as deemed necessary by the needs of the business.

Qualifications / Experience:

Degree level in Civil Engineering or equivalent, HND/HNC level in engineering or equivalent
Incorporated or Chartered Engineer, or working towards a professional qualification
Valid UK driving licence
Health and Safety, including the CDM Regulations 2017, Contract Administration (specifically NEC contract)
Good understanding of the continuous value management process
Good understanding of Highways England DMRB and other standards and guidance notes
Ability to use either Accident Databases or traffic modelling software to produce pertinent information
Experience of improvements in a MAC/ASC environment
