Deputy Planning Enforcement Manager

Building and Construction - London

My client, a London based Local Authority are looking to recruit a Deputy Planning Enforcement Manager for their team within the Building and Construction industry. The suitable candidate for the enforcement team will be responsible for leading on a team of enforcement officers investigating alleged breaches of planning control, and taking enforcement action when necessary.

The Deputy Planning Enforcement Manager vacancy will be for an initial 3-6 months with potential for extension subject to internal circumstance and your performance.

Duties for the Deputy Planning Enforcement Manager:

  • To assist the Team Leader in managing and directing the work of planning officers in an area planning team or the special projects team or the enforcement team. On request, to be the designated deputy Team Leader.
  • As appropriate to the team, to provide professional/technical expertise in the processing planning applications, appeals, enforcement cases, preparation of development briefs or other guidance.
  • To deal personally with major and complex planning applications/appeals/enforcement cases and other related activity, to determine applications under delegated powers, and to assist in the management of other officers' work.
  • To lead on and be responsible to the Director or Head of Development Management/Head of Planning Regeneration for divisional projects such as strategic planning projects, service improvement or quality initiatives.
  • To contribute to the provision of a high quality, effective and efficient development management and planning service, and to have full regard to the objectives of the whole planning service and the Council in carrying out the responsibilities of the post

Membership of RTPI (Royal Town Planning Institute) would be advantageous.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in town/urban planning (or relevant aspect).
  • 5 years' experience working within the UK Building and Construction industry.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Knowledge of S106 and S171 of Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
