Principal Planning Officer (Development Management) – £34,277 to £37,219 inclusive of London weighting. Plus Market Factor Supplement of £3,646 (reviewed annually), essential car user allowance and Local Government Pension Scheme.

On the fringe of London, the District is experiencing significant development pressure, with a variety of planning applications. The District is a mixture of beautiful countryside, villages and small towns with many Conservation Areas, Listed Buildings and major areas of Green Belt and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  The area has a diverse range of businesses and is a centre for the film industry with Warner Brothers at Leavesden forming part of a studio cluster along with nearby Elstree and Pinewood.

We are looking to appoint at Principal Planning Officer level. As Principal Planner you would be handling your own caseload of large planning applications whilst managing Officers across the service to ensure that decisions for applications are made on time and in line with both local and national policy and guidance.  You will assist the Team Leaders in the management of a planning team, including monitoring workloads, officer performance and identifying and delivering service improvements.
