Senior Planning Officer (Development Management)
Build your career in one of the most beautiful parts of Britain
The Yorkshire Dales National Park boasts some of the most stunning scenery in Britain and will provide an enviable setting for your career. As the statutory planning authority for the area, it’s our mission to help local people and businesses to keep the National Park a thriving and beautiful area. You will have a central role to play as you ensure that new developments are well designed and carefully sited – complementing rather than compromising the natural environment and beautiful built heritage.
Providing professional advice on a broad spectrum of planning issues, you will manage applications and support good quality development proposals through our professional pre-application advice service. At all times, you will maintain expert knowledge of evolving legislation and pursue continuous professional development to remain at the top of your game.
To be equal to the challenge, you will require a recognised planning qualification, eligibility for RTPI membership and sound experience of development control activity. Notably, you will be passionate about rural development issues, capable of engaging with local communities, and able to hold your own at high profile public events.
In addition to this permanent post, we are looking for individuals to join us on a 12-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, starting November 2017.
In return, we offer our Senior Planning Officers the ultimate in flexibility: a choice of full or part-time hours, plus the option to be based in either Bainbridge or Grassington. What’s more, you can expect comprehensive benefits including a defined Local Government pension, childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme, free car parking, flexi-time and, if joining us on a permanent basis, a relocation package of up to £4,000.
