Senior Planning Officer (Major Applications)
Horsham District Council has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Officer within our major applications team.
Horsham has an up to date local plan and will be starting an early review, with a consultation on our employment strategy due shortly. Over 90% of our District is covered by a Neighbourhood Plan designation. We have 4 Made Neighbourhood Plans and 19 in preparation. We have 16,000 homes to provide for and consented over 1100 last year. We consider around 3000 applications each year with one of the highest number of major applications in the surrounding area.
As Senior Planning Officer in the majors’ team you will take ownership of the full application process for a particular site from pre application discussions, through the application process, attend planning committees, conditions discharge and defending the Council at appeals in the event of refusals.
You will manage a varied caseload of housing, commercial and other types of major applications. You will be a motivated individual who has experience of dealing with complex cases, has a willingness to learn and is adaptable to change.
