Based with a local authority on East London you will assume one of the most senior level roles in the team having responsibility to manage, support and develop a staff team who are responsible for the successful delivery of the Business Growth Programme. It will be your role to effectively allocate workload to ensure that all of the projects and programmes are appropriately resourced. The team undertakes a wide range of projects within the scope of Economic Analysis, Inward Investment and Employment and Skills Funding and you will work in conjunction with the Regeneration Manager to ensure that a comprehensive approach to supporting Town Centres is developed and managed.

You will also be working closely with the Assistant Director of Development, to personally prepare and implement an Economic Development Strategy for the borough. In doing so you will lead the consultation with Members and stakeholders to establish the Borough's priorities and to manage the process of business, community and stakeholder consultation. A key function of your role will be acting as strategic lead for the external funding function across the Council, co-ordinating and championing funding applications in order to maximise our client's share of external funding. You will take personal responsibility for cost centre management of a number of revenue and capital budgets.

To carry out this role successfully a strong management track record is required and a proven ability to lead multi disciplinary teams economic development teams within local authorities. You will need an excellent knowledge of funding options available to deliver such schemes and you will need good decisions making skills. It is essential that you can demonstrate the ability to manage resources effectively and when required you are able to deliver under pressure and prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met.

Your people management skills will be as equally important as your knowledge in this professional field and you will need to be able to motivate and inspire those around you. A significant part of your role will involve identifying strengths and weaknesses in the team and working to ensure resources are managed effectively.

At this level our client will expect an appropriate degree level qualification and ideally professional accreditation within your field.

The rate will be a minimum of £500 / day and is negotiable. We expect it will be inside IR35.
