Building Conservation Planning Officer

Building and Construction - Cheshire

My client, a local authority based in Cheshire are looking for an Building Conservation Planning Officer to join their team within the building and construction industry. The Building Conservation Planning Officer vacancy will be for an initial 3-6 months with the potential for extension depending in performance and internal circumstances.

The Building Conservation Planning Officer requires someone with significant experience of building conservation, ideally with local government experience. The role will be to assist in the day to day provision of the built heritage function of the planning department entailing:

  • Responding to general enquiries on the phone and through the built heritage mailbox
  • Providing pre-application advice both informally and formally as part of the pre-app service operated by the Council
  • Providing conservation support for planning officers
  • Providing formal responses upon planning proposals involving built heritage
  • Potentially involvement in preparing for planning appeals
  • Other conservation work that may arise, such as advising in relation to conservation area character appraisals, local listing and heritage at risk
