Could you help shape East Suffolk's future?

Suffolk Coastal and Waveney District Councils is located on the beautiful east coast of Suffolk in close proximity to the regional centres of Norwich to the north and Ipswich to the south.

Already a progressive and successful partnership, we are in the process of combining our two authorities to create the largest District Council in the country, delivering vital services to those who need them most. Our councils are an exciting place to work and a great place to make a real difference to people's lives.

An opportunity has just arisen for you to join us in delivering an exciting and challenging agenda. The challenge is to balance significant levels of growth, including that associated with Sizewell C new nuclear power station and offshore wind projects, with protecting and enhancing a sensitive and valued local environment.

Suffolk Coastal has commenced a Local Plan review with adjoining local authorities around Ipswich to deliver ambitious local growth targets to 2036. Consultation on the Issues and Options has recently been completed. Waveney is also undertaking a review to 2036 and is now working towards the final draft Local Plan, with a particular focus on the regeneration of Lowestoft and the management of growth across the market towns and rural areas.

Reporting directly to the Planning Policy and Delivery Manager, you will lead on the preparation, monitoring, implementation and interpretation of Local Plan documents, supplementary Planning Documents and other related documents. You will also take a lead role in supporting communities in preparing, delivering and monitoring Community Led Plans / Neighbourhood Planning tools.

You will be an enthusiastic and committed individual who can rise to the plan making challenges. You should possess a relevant recognised accredited degree in Town and County Planning as well as full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

In return, we can offer great opportunities for training and development. We want you to stay with us for the long term, so we will give you all the support we can to build a great career with our organisation.

There is also a superb benefits package including flexible working options and purpose-built, brand new office accommodation, as well as a generous leave entitlement, discount scheme, pension scheme and free car parking.
