Telford - a destination of vibrant places, people and experiences to live work and play.

As a New Town that celebrates its 50th birthday this year, Telford continues to grow from the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and one of the UK’s first World Heritage Sites to now delivering more than 76 hectares of employment and circa 17,000 new homes up until 2031, as part of the newly adopted Telford & Wrekin Local Plan.

Telford lies at the heart of Shropshire and is the gateway between the Midlands and Wales.  Rich in heritage and natural beauty, the borough has a vibrant town centre that’s currently expanding; a 450 acre town park with numerous leisure facilities; easy access to beautiful countryside including The Wrekin and South Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; and excellent rail and road links.

As a Unitary Authority we have been able to combine a planning team of many specialists, including highway engineers, ecologists, historic building conservationists, housing and recreation specialists; helping deliver holistic and innovative solutions to all our customers.

We are also unique in delivering the Midlands’ first public sector commercial Planning, Development and Environmental consultancy apT, providing opportunities to work with clients and projects located outside of the Borough, acting as a consultant on behalf of private clients in relation to planning matters, including the preparation, submission and management of planning applications, and appeals.

The Role:

We are looking to appoint two Principal Planners to join our dynamic team to help deliver our exciting growth plans, and development across the Midlands.

You will be responsible for the management and determination of a diverse portfolio of applications in the borough, and support a wide variety of clients with planning matters across the region.

You will need to hold a degree in planning or a related discipline, be a Chartered Member of the RTPI, and have substantial experience in the field of Planning Management.

Are you looking for a challenge and a diverse range of work? If you are passionate about delivering change, and finding innovative solutions we want to hear from you.
