Maidstone – Great people, great place, great opportunity

A full time vacancy has arisen for a Validation Officer to join our busy Validation Team on a full time basis working 37 hours per week. As part of the Mid Kent Planning Support shared service (MKPS) you will be supporting both Maidstone and Swale planning teams.

As a planning support officer it will be challenging, busy and rewarding. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all planning applications received at the authorities are processed, registered and validated quickly and accurately.

The role is career graded and we are particularly looking for people with validation experience or the clear aptitude, skills and knowledge to hit the ground running.  MKPS are committed to supporting their staff and helping them develop the skills for entering into Development Management, or progress within the Planning Support service.

The successful applicant will be able to work as part of a team, carry out tasks to strict deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and have the aptitude and desire to further their own development to validate planning applications.

Customer service will be an important part of the role as are the people skills necessary to liaise with planning officers and external customers. Experience of handling plans, GIS and planning systems, as well as a knowledge of planning are desirable.

This is a permanent, full time position based in Maidstone House.
