Economic Strategy Specialist
As Colchester continues to plan for and deliver nearly 1,000 homes a year, and with similarly ambitious targets for jobs growth and new infrastructure, it is an exciting time to work for the Borough within the Place Strategy Team.
With a new Local Plan going through Examination, testing challenging solutions for meeting growth, including two new garden communities, Colchester together with neighbouring authorities in North Essex, is leading the way. If you would like to join our busy and ambitious team, working in a convivial environment with a mix of disciplines keeping the work varied and interesting, then this opportunity may be just for you.
We are looking for an Economics, Business / Planning Graduate with experience and knowledge of economic development or regeneration and the challenges facing Local Government. Someone who will lead on the promotion of economic growth in the borough through the creation, monitoring and updates to the council’s economic and growth strategy; working closely with the recently formed Colchester Commercial (Holdings) Limited to ensure projects are developed in-line with the Council’s objectives; provide strategic intelligence, policy and advice on business, employment and the economy.
The role will also lead for the Council on the economic strategy for our Garden Communities. Membership of a Professional body, management qualifications (such as ILM) and experience will reflect the level of appointment.
