Osborne Richardson have a fantastic permanent opportunity for a Team Manager to join our clients Development Management Team. You will assist the Service Manager in leading, managing, delivering and developing the Development Management & Control Service in a manner consistent with the Council's aims and policies and the professional standards falling within the scope of the Planning and Economic Development Service. Overseeing a team of 6 officers made up of both Senior Planners and Planning Officers, you will be responsible for delivering the council's statutory responsibilities for the determination of planning applications under the Town and Country Planning Acts and related legislation.

This will be achieved through careful management of the planning process at each stage and you will be responsible for delegating and organising work for other team members to ensure delivery in line with the Council's established protocols. As a more senior member of the team you will on occasion be required to represent the Council as an expert witness on all issues involving development applications, pre-applications, Appeals and Public Inquires and in court where necessary. You will also assist the Service Manager in the management of the Development Control Committee, including Chair and Member liaison

The successful candidate for this role must be a degree qualified, RTPI accredited Town Planner and be experienced in managing major applications and have at least 2-3 years as a Principal or Team Lead within a Planning Service. Critical to this role will be the ability to communicate effectively and to engage in negotiations that can often be sensitive and complex so you will need to be able to engage productively with third parties to develop good relationships that ensure successful development.

The salary offered for this position will be between £40,858 to £42,806 plus benefits. We have a detailed job description available, as well as details of the benefits package which are available upon request.
