Senior Planning Policy Officer
Grade 8: £32,233 - £39,002 (including supplement) Fixed Term Contract until June 2019 (Maternity)
We are seeking a conscientious, diligent and highly motivated senior planner to join our planning policy team to provide maternity cover until July 2019.
There could not be a better time to join us. Wokingham Borough is subject to challenging development pressures that need to be carefully and proactively planned for and managed.
We are progressing a considerable amount of planning policy work including updating our local plan to effectively manage longer-term development. We are also working in partnership with our neighbouring local authorities to update the area’s minerals and waste local plan.

- Reviewing, updating and commissioning new technical evidence.
- Reviewing existing policies and drafting updated and new local plan policies through all informal and statutory procedures.
- Engaging elected Councillors, stakeholders and residents.
In addition to the local plan, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the council on place-based strategy including transport, economic prosperity and housing.
The successful candidate needs to be highly capable and enthusiastic with experience of the planning system and the ability to work on their own initiative. A planning qualification is desirable.
