We are looking for an Enforcement Officer with a specialist knowledge of planning to join our busy established and friendly enforcement team. You will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload of enforcement issues, liaising with our customers and other stakeholders to negotiate positive outcomes. It’s an exciting time for the Vale with the development of HS2 and Aylesbury having been granted Garden Town status.

You must have some previous experience in a town and country planning environment and should be able to read and interpret site plans and apply legislation. The ideal candidate will also have a background in investigatory and enforcement work. To apply for a higher level post (TE4) you must have completed and passed a planning qualification or equivalent at level 4 and be an Associate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. For the right candidate without these qualifications we will offer the role as a career grade post and work with you to support your development to achieve the higher grade over time.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised. You will need to be an excellent communicator, be able to work to a high professional standard and demonstrate an understanding of planning legislation and requirements.

If you believe you have the skills and qualities to join us then we look forward to hearing from you.

On Monday 12 March  it was announced by the government that the five councils in Buckinghamshire (including Aylesbury Vale District Council) may become a single unitary authority. Further details regarding the Minister’s ‘minded to’ decision are available on our website (https://www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/modernising-local-government).

Any changes made to the structure of local authorities in the county may affect council employees in the future but we do not anticipate any immediate impact.  Changes are likely to take a period of time and will not affect all areas of the Council.

If you have any further questions, please contact our recruitment team at recruitment@aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk

You will be notified of our short listing decision via email,  so please check your email and Jobs account on a regular basis after submitting your application.
