Bassetlaw is predominantly a rural district with a number of market towns, the largest being Worksop with approximately 46,000 residents. With strong links to the Sheffield City Region to the north and Nottinghamshire to the south, the authority is perfectly positioned to reap the benefits of both Local Enterprise Partnerships and the vital beneficial regenerative funding that can bring. The district has much heritage and is a tourist draw for its assets, both natural and historic along with being the chosen base for many major employers. There are multiples of volume housebuilders currently on-site constructing many residential schemes.

The Council is presently preparing a Local Plan and so pre-empting growth, the district is an exciting place to work given that it has a lot of development presently underway and a plethora of exciting projects planned for the future.

As part of a recent planning service review, we have an exciting opportunity for a new Development Team Business Improvement manager.

This presents a great opportunity for a forward thinking, positive individual to join us as a key member of the planning service. You will liaise with members in relation to development, service delivery and improvement. Working within a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for playing a pivotal role managing a team of circa 20 staff.  You must therefore be a politically skilled, and an inspiring leader who is able to motivate staff, maintain and enhance performance and generate income.

You must also be proficient in all areas of town planning, and have detailed knowledge of current legislation and issues whilst ensuring that all applications are processed with statutory time frames. 

You will be a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning institute with strong communication skills.  Therefore, the ability to offer technical critique of complex development applications is essential.
