Intern Project Officer RTPI Scotland
Intern Project Officer
21 hours per week
Fixed term contract until 28 February 2019
These are important and exciting times for planning in Scotland. The Planning Bill continues to progress through the Scottish Parliament, and secondary legislation and new policy and guidance will follow. RTPI Scotland has been heavily involved in the review of planning from the outset, looking to provide evidence and solutions and working with Scottish Government and Parliamentarians to ensure that the reforms are as successful as possible. Our role in promoting the positive role that planning takes in creating better places is also essential. This post is key in taking this influential work forward.
The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is the professional institute for the UK’s planners and is the largest in Europe with over 25,000 members. It also campaigns for the use of the art and science of town planning for the public benefit and on housing, economic and environmental issues. The RTPI is a membership organisation and a Chartered Institute responsible for maintaining professional standards, accrediting world class planning courses nationally and internationally
We are looking for a motivated person who can use evidence gathering and collaborative skills to support our ongoing work influencing the Planning Bill, and work to develop new thinking that will inform a vision for Scotland’s built and natural environment in 2050. As context to this, enthusiasm to promote to a wide audience the value of an empowered and effective planning service will be required. You will be organised, have a degree level qualification in a relevant social science subject and have strong communication skills and an understanding of the current issues facing planners and the planning system.
