Brief Overview

We’re looking for a dynamic and professional town planner with expertise in plan-making and with management experience or management potential.  We are looking for a team leader for the planning policy team.  If you are committed to high quality customer service and ready for a new challenge, this could be the role for you.

The successful applicant for this high profile role will join the councils at an exciting time to coordinate and manage the work of one of the policy teams. The immediate focus will be to finalise the adoption of the Vale of White Horse Local Plan Part 2 and commence the review of the Local Plan. The team will also develop the Council’s policy approach to Community Infrastructure Levy.

This role will manage the planning policy team ensuring that service and operational objectives of each council are met within the service team. In addition, this post will have budgetary responsibilities to help deliver service objectives. They will also ensure that the team delivers high quality and value for money services to customers, direct and commissioned, and will actively seek opportunities to improve customer service and service delivery.

As Planning Policy Team Leader, the post holder will provide effective leadership and development for the team and will encourage best practice in a shared working arrangement. They will facilitate informed decisions by ensuring that officers and councillors are appraised of issues and receive relevant best practice professional advice. The post holder will also assist the service manager and head of service in the operational management of the service area.
