BCU appoints head of architecture and design

Birmingham City University (BCU) has appointed Dr Matthew Jones as its new head of school for architecture and design.

Jones joined the university in 2019 and was previously the director of technical studies.

He replaces Professor Kevin Singh, who moved to the Manchester School of Architecture in 2020, and interim head of school Professor Hannah Vowles.

Jones's research has seen him examine the role of design in creating thriving towns and high streets; explore the development of rural towns and champion community-led place planning.
