Buckinghamshire Council appoints planning director

Steve Bambrick [square]Buckinghamshire Council has appointed Steve Bambrick as corporate director of planning, growth and sustainability.

Bambrick gained a degree in environmental planning from Birmingham University and then started a 28-year career in local government. This included working in the North East, West and East Midlands as well as three years at Chiltern & South Bucks District Council. 

He will succeed Ian Thompson who retires later this year after 36 years in local government, and will work alongside Thompson over the coming months.

Bambrick said: “As a council we have had three years of establishing our key services and priorities. My focus now will be on those areas which deliver the best outcomes for our residents and businesses. Buckinghamshire is a fabulous place with high levels of investment and some of the most valuable landscapes in the country. I feel honoured to be given the opportunity to make a difference in such great place.”
