Matt Brook [square]Corstorphine + Wright has appointed Matt Brook as design director in the North West.

Brook was formerly head of design at Broadway Malyan. He will be assisting Corstorphine + Wright in boosting the practice’s profile in the North West and guiding the development of a unified design strategy for the business.

Brook said: “Each city and location within the region is individual, with its own history and character, and it’s therefore vital that design’s distil and amplify these differing regional identities.

“A development needs to speak to the character of a location, intertwining with the existing urban fabric while enhancing the overall sense of place. Great design generates a strong sense of place stemming from a clear local identity which people and communities can relate to.

“It is this sense of identity, delivered by well-designed places, which creates an emotional community connection, engendering a sense of well-being and imbuing schemes with a ‘must have’ quality, unlocking commercial and social value.”

Michael Lampard, director at Corstorphine + Wright, said: “A key element of Matt’s role is to ensure that each of our studios around the country are operating within an aligned design framework. As we continue to grow, this will help us to ensure that the practice delivers the high standards of work that our clients have come to expect from the practice.”
