The Crown Estate has appointed Gus Jaspert as managing director (MD) of marine, starting in October this year.

The Crown Estate’s marine holdings includes management of the seabed and around half of the foreshore around England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Jaspert is currently director general for delivery group in the Home Office. He will take over from Huub den Rooijen who will retire after 10 years at The Crown Estate to step into an advisory role.

Jaspert has “extensive” experience working across complex policy environments leading strategy, transformation and delivery in government at a regional, national and international level.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining The Crown Estate. This is a business with a unique role to play in the UK’s transition to a net zero future. I look forward to working with the team as it seeks to maximise the economic, social and environmental potential of the seabed, including through accelerating the roll-out of offshore technologies in response to the climate emergency and working closely with industry and other partners to ensure we do this in a responsible and sustainable way.”
