HES appoints heritage director

Elly McCrone [square]Historic Environment Scotland (HES) has appointed Elly McCrone as its new director of heritage.

McCrone has over 20 years of experience working in the heritage sector and joined HES’s predecessor Historic Scotland in 2002. She was most recently head of designations.

In her new role she will handle the provision of advice, policy and guidance on issues relating to the historic environment through HES’ role in the planning process, as well as responsibility for functions including survey and recording and designations.

She will also look after international archives and maintain the national record of the historic environment.
