IED appoints four board directors

Richard Cook [square]The Institute of Economic Development (IED) has appointed four new board directors.

Dr Joanne Leek has been economic development manager at the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority since May 2021 and has previously worked as an investment analyst. She brings nearly 15 years of professional experience across various sectors including financial services, business support and energy.

Richard Cook has been director of economics at Pegasus Group since 2016 and has previously worked at DTZ Investors as well as New Economy Manchester, now part of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

Dave Widger is head of economic development for UK and Ireland at AECOM and has over 20 years of experience in the sector. His expertise is in local, city and regional economics and specialises in developing economic development strategies, impact assessments and case making for road, rail and other infrastructure projects.

Lorna Young is a Dumfries-based marketing and rural economic development consultant who has been a member of the IED since 2017. Young is an expert in the south of Scotland economy including its communities, businesses and key sectors.
