Nexus Planning adds to Manchester team

Richard Shepherd [square]Nexus Planning, a UK planning and regeneration consultancy, has announced the expansion of its Manchester team, with Richard Shepherd joining as a director.

Shepherd specialises in providing planning advice on retail and town centre development for both private and public sector clients. He joins Nexus Planning from WYG Planning, where he was also a director.

He leads teams to deliver retail, leisure and town centre studies for local authorities’ clients, and has provided expert witness services at inquiries and the courts. His recent experience also comprises advising on major retail schemes across the north of the England and beyond, including the planned Ikea development at Cuerden, the redevelopment of Gungate in Tamworth town centre, and the proposed Designer Outlet centre at Scotch Corner.

Peter Tooher, executive director and head of Nexus Planning’s Manchester office, said: “Richard's skills and experience will be of significant benefit to many of our existing clients and will enable us to develop our footprint in this important sector.”
