The Planning Inspectorate has appointed Paul Morrison as its new chief executive.

Morrison will take over from Sarah Richards on 14 December 2022, who stepped down from the role in September. He brings with him a "strong" combination of policy and delivery experience.

Navees Rahman, interim CEO, will be departing the inspectorate in the spring to take on the role of chief finance and resources officer at Arts Council, England.

Morrison said: “My recent time leading the government’s planning reform programme first-hand experience  of the many positive aspects of the organisation including the importance of the Inspectorate’s role, the quality of the people working for it, the strength of their values and the innovation of its transformation programmes.”
