Richborough Estates hires planning director

Land promoter Richborough Estates has appointed Richard Lomas as planning director for its eastern division in Birmingham.

Lomas has joined from Axis PED and has held previous roles at The Co-op, Gladman, Turley Associates and CBRE. He has worked closely with Richborough Estates for several years on a number of key projects.

In his new role he will lead on planning strategy for the division, which covers the East, Central and South East regions. He will steer its pipeline of  development sites through the planning system to deliver land for thousands of new homes, as well as advising on potential new sites.

Lomas said: “I’ll be working closely with our internal team, landowners, local authorities and consultants to navigate sites through the complex planning process, which will include securing allocations in Local Plans and delivering planning permissions. Ultimately my role is to ensure we bring value all our stakeholders and enhance the benefits that developments can deliver to communities.”
