1. SECTION 106 OFFICER, EAST CAMBRIDGESHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL

Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire

The job: "The planning team at East Cambridgeshire District Council is on a mission. We're seeking highly motivated planning professionals, looking for an exciting and agile role to showcase and be rewarded for their planning skills to join our 29 strong strategic planning and development control service.

"We have an ambitious vision to create a better, brighter East Cambridgeshire. One that responds to residents' needs, adopts a digital first approach, helps protect and enhance our environment and is financially sustainable.

"As Section 106 Officer, you will:

  • Lead on S106 agreement negotiations, monitoring and spend for the council, ensuring spend supports the council’s requirements. 
  • Negotiate S106 agreements through the planning process and provide day to day management of S106 legal agreements to ensure that the provisions within them are enacted at the correct time, managing incoming funding contributions and associated spend
  • Provide consistent advice to colleagues and applicants on S106 obligations, planning applications/pre application enquiries and heads of terms
  • Negotiate S106 Agreements on behalf of the council, working with applicants, planning and legal officers and infrastructure providers
  • Lead the administration, monitoring and enforcement of S106 processes, including the database of heads of terms, charges, allocations and spend."

2. PLANNING OFFICER (DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT), BASSETLAW DISTRICT COUNCIL

Location: Worksop, Nottinghamshire

The job: "Bassetlaw District Council has a clear vision to become the greenest, most sustainable district to live and work by 2040. We have been successful in securing a huge amount of inward investment into the area, and it is crucial that we can recruit and develop talented staff to make the most of this investment to deliver the vision. Our busy, friendly planning team is key to achieving this.

"As part of this role, you’ll enjoy the challenge of working on both rural and urban projects whilst handling a varied case load of planning applications and appeals. You’ll manage your own caseload, dealing with a variety of applications, as well as pre-application enquiries to develop your experience and make a positive impact on Bassetlaw. You’ll ensure the environment of the district is protected by engaging with developers and other key stakeholders. You must therefore have strong analytical and judgment skills in order to interpret plans, information and data, as well as being a great problem solver."

3. ASSISTANT ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT), HART DISTRICT COUNCIL

Location: Fleet, Hampshire

The job: "Looking for a new challenge? A fantastic opportunity has come up in our development management team for someone who would like to begin or expand upon their current career in planning enforcement. We are looking for an assistant enforcement officer to handle a wide variety of planning enforcement investigations with the view towards succession planning within our team in the coming years.

4. CONSERVATION OFFICER, HARBOROUGH DISTRICT COUNCIL

Location: Market Harborough, Leicestershire/Hybrid

The job: "Can you help to conserve and enhance Harborough District’s heritage? Harborough District Council in rural south Leicestershire, is one of the most prosperous and attractive areas of England and includes a wealth of heritage and development growth areas. The district has 1,284 listed buildings, 63 conservation areas, 66 scheduled monuments and 6 registered parks and gardens. We're also developing a local list of non-designated heritage assets. 

"Working with the development management team, you'll help to provide specialist heritage advice on a varied caseload of applications ranging from householders to major development proposals, as well as dealing with your own caseload of listed building consent and planning applications. You will also provide conservation advice to a range of stakeholders."

5. PRINCIPAL PLANNING OFFICER (PLANNING POLICY), PRESTON CITY COUNCIL

Location: Preston, Lancashire/Hybrid

The job: "We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced town planning professional and you must have a recognised qualification in planning and hold full membership of the RTPI.

"You'll be delivering and implementing the new local plan alongside updating our City Centre Plan, as well as providing professional expert advice for the council, creating and applying planning policy and best practice and delivering successful planning outcomes. You will also support our communities in developing their neighbourhood plans.

"You'll support the planning policy manager in overseeing the work of team, including supervising, coaching and mentoring officers to help them develop in their roles.

"The council is in the process of reviewing its development plan, working in partnership with South Ribble and Chorley Councils on a single spatial strategy for central Lancashire. This is an exciting role to join our team as the principal planner within the planning policy team, at the heart of major transformation of the city."
