1. PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT LEAD ADVISER, NATURAL ENGLAND
Location: National
The job: “As a planning and environment lead adviser for Natural England, you’ll join one of our 12 area teams to advise on local development Plans, infrastructure and housing projects, developing new approaches to manage pressures like recreational disturbance and water pollution. By engaging early with major developments, we have the opportunity to avoid negative impacts to the natural environment, provide appropriate mitigation and secure large scale environmental outcomes to benefit nature and people’s connectivity with nature.
“This is a rewarding role with fantastic opportunities to secure positive environmental outcomes on the ground and to further our Nature Recovery Network. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of high-profile cases.
“We’re looking for someone with a passion for nature’s recovery and an understanding of the impacts of major infrastructure projects and new housing developments on the natural environment. You’ll be able to work with a wide range of colleagues, stakeholders and customers to find solutions and secure positive outcomes for all. You don’t have to currently be in a planning role, but it would be helpful to have knowledge and experience of environmental legislation and the planning system and/or a working knowledge of habitats and species.”

2. ONSHORE PROJECT MANAGER/PROJECT MANAGER, SCOTTISH POWER
Location: Glasgow – flexible and hybrid
The job: “The project manager will become a member of the onshore renewables development team based in Glasgow. This role encompasses all aspects of project development to ensure the effective delivery of onshore renewable projects to meet the ScottishPower Renewable’s (SPR) ambitious onshore pipeline growth targets.
“You will focus on the delivery of planning consents/permits for the projects with all necessary financial approval and budgetary control associated. You will establish strong relationships with an all major stakeholders including regulators, Planning authorities, governments, communities, landowners, land agents, legal advisers, sub consultants and suppliers.”
What you’ll be doing
You will lead and recommend appropriate project and commercial strategies to the senior Project manager and the head of onshore development, and identify management of risks and issues.
You will be responsible for financial management including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and cost control while also being involved in the tendering process and the effective management of external suppliers and contractors.
"Importantly, we will look for you to formulate the strategy and review of the environmental impact assessment process, including the preparation of environmental statements and planning applications for our renewables projects.
“You will effectively liaise and consult with stakeholders such as local planning authorities, Scottish Government, An Bord Pleanála, and the Northern Ireland Department for Infrastructure to secure approval and / or resolution of any issues raised on projects.”

3. PRINCIPAL PLANNING OFFICERS (MULTIPLE ROLES), SHEFFIELD CITY COUNCIL
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
The job: “Sheffield is a vibrant, green and ambitious city (‘The Outdoor City’) which has seen significant investment, development and regeneration in recent years and this is set to continue. To build on this continuing change we are seeking enthusiastic, highly skilled principal planners able to make an immediate impact. To be considered for these roles you must have several years planning experience. We are demanding high standards from applicants so you must be able to demonstrate a proven track record in the management of a substantial caseload of complex major applications to agreed targets whilst achieving quality outcomes.

4. SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER & OFFICER - DEVELOPMENT CONTROL, STATES OF GUERNSEY
Location: Guernsey, Channel Islands
The job: “The States of Guernsey are looking for a senior planning officer and planning officer – development control to join the team at planning services.
“The senior planning officer role will entail dealing with a wide range of development control work including major development proposals, to assist and support the development control manager by taking responsibility for the supervision of the development control team, including the development and mentoring of the assistant and trainee officers.You will have no direct reports but will work closely with Planning officers in development control. You will be responsible to the development control manager and accountable to the director of planning.
“The planning officer role will entail working as part of a team dealing with a wide range of development control work, including planning applications, pre-applications enquiries, advice and appeals. You will be responsible to the development control manager and will work closely with other professional staff in the development control team.”
5. PRINCIPAL PLANNER, PETERBOROUGH CITY COUNCIL
Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
The job: “We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and well organised individual who has substantial experience of dealing with major applications. You will have a keen eye for design and be confident in your negotiation skills.
“The planning team is recognised within the council as being vital to the continued growth of the city and you will play a significant part in delivering growth. As a unitary authority, we can offer you a varied mix of applications to challenge and diversify your existing experience, including exciting proposals to regenerate the city centre. As well as dealing with a caseload of complex applications, you will have the opportunity to deliver service improvements and mentor more junior staff, including apprentices. This is an exciting time to join the authority as we embark on implementing the recommendations from a planning review to invest further in both staff resources and training together with ways of working innovatively.
