1. NEIGHBOURHOOD PLANS OFFICER, WYCHAVON DISTRICT COUNCIL

Location: Pershore, Worcestershire

The job: It’s an exciting time to join Wychavon District Council as we take our corporate promises forward to 2028. These include a commitment to promote neighbourhood planning and extend coverage of new plans amongst our local communities. 

In this new role, you'll support parish and town councils across the Wychavon district to designate neighbourhood areas and bring neighbourhood plans to adoption. We're also currently reviewing our local plan and, once adopted, you'll take a lead role in updating existing neighbourhood plans against the new local plan.  

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the take up amongst parish and town councils to prepare a neighbourhood plan for their area
  • Working with neighbourhood plan groups to draft neighbourhood plans, support the statutory consultation stages, examination and eventual adoption
  • Providing advice to neighbourhood plan groups on how to address local plan policies and the NPPF in neighbourhood plans, as well as drafting locally determined policies and site allocations for new development. 
  • Providing guidance and support on approaches to achieve successful community engagement and participation in the process
  • Responding to planning queries from the public, developers, district councillors and our development management team in the interpretation and implementation of neighbourhood plan policies when processing planning applications.

2. MINERALS AND WASTE PLANNING OFFICERS x3, WILTSHIRE COUNCIL

Location: Trowbridge, Wiltshire

The jobs: As part of our ambitious planning service transformation programme, we can offer the following opportunities for those wishing to develop their expertise in minerals and waste planning. 

Working across the county of Wiltshire, you will join a dedicated team which is expanding to meet a variety of challenges in the sustainable delivery of aggregate minerals for construction and provision of waste management facilities.

  • Principal planning officer (minerals and waste policy)
  • Planning officer (minerals and waste policy)
  • Planning officer (minerals and waste development management)

As the principal planning officer, you'll take a lead role in policy formulation and stakeholder engagement for minerals and waste planning, including preparation of the Minerals and Waste Plan. This will include responsibility for co-ordinating and managing projects that ensure an evidence-led approach is taken to policy and plan-making, meeting the need for minerals and waste management capacity across the county.

As planning officer (minerals and waste policy), you'll support the preparation, monitoring and review of minerals and waste polices and the supporting evidence base, including effective data collection and reporting of mineral reserves and waste capacity and requirements.

As planning officer (minerals and waste development management), you'll be responsible for a caseload of planning applications relating to mines and quarries, landfill and other facilities managing waste. Reporting to the planning manager, this role offers the opportunity to be involved in a range of activities associated with the development and restoration of these sites to beneficial after-uses.

3. PLANNING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (FIXED TERM), CITY OF LINCOLN COUNCIL

Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire

The job: An opportunity has arisen to join our planning team for a fixed term of two years with responsibility for dealing with all aspects of planning enforcement, including flyposting, state of land matters, unauthorised works to protected trees and listed building contraventions. You'll also be required to give advice and guidance to members of the public and developers on a wide range of planning enforcement related issues, such as permitted development rights.

Key responsibilities:

  • Enforce planning and advertisement regulations
  • Investigate breaches and working with others to achieve compliance
  • Monitor all planning permissions to ensure that they are carried out in accordance with approved plans and planning conditions
  • Support work around development contributions
  • Keep up to date with new regulations and guidance, deliver new policies and procedures
  • Provide advice to the team leader for heritage and planning enforcement in relation to the day-to-day operational issues
  • Actively and positively participate in joint working as required and provide advice to other officers about planning enforcement."

4. PRINCIPAL PLANNER, BURNLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL

Location: Burnley, Lancashire

The job: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Burnley Council’s development control service as a principal planner. You'll work as a senior member of the team to deliver a highly efficient and responsive planning service that promotes sustainable growth.

5. REGULATORY SYSTEMS PRODUCT AND DATA MANAGER, LONDON BOROUGH OF BEXLEY

Location: Bexley, south east London
