We are looking for very ambitious and progressive professionals to join our established shared service teams for Planning and Growth teams at West Suffolk councils (Forest Heath District and St Edmundsbury Borough),.
In addition to dealing with planning applications and maintaining our high attainment in key Government indicators, in the Development Management roles you will be involved in progressing our ambitious continual improvement plan, including Planning Performance Agreements, front loading of Major applications and the development of our Strategic sites.
As part of the Strategic Planning team, the Local Plan and Design posts will have a key role in implementing the existing Local Plan as well as developing the East Suffolk Local Plan, preparation of a robust evidence base and supplementary planning documents leading the way in place shaping and delivery. The new Neighbourhood Planning post provides support to o ur communities in the preparation of Neighbourhood Plans. Enhancing our specialist team will secure improved relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to forge partnerships and implement best practice to deliver sustainable growth.
You will be someone with excellent creative and problem solving skills who is highly motivated and ambitious. You will have a flexible approach to work with a 'can do' attitude. In any of the roles, you will have experience and developed a track record of delivering in your professional subject area, challenging the normal and delivering the best outcomes. Working within a political environment isn't essential, but to have an understanding of local government is desirable, and the ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders both internally and externally to make things happen is essential.
