We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and capable Planning Technician; able to deal effectively with a caseload of planning enquiries and simple planning related applications. The post would suit either a person with experience of working within a planning department or a recent graduate starting a career in planning. The post holder should demonstrate positive attitude and be well organised, be able to evidence excellent communication and analytical skills and an ability to deliver a rapid turnaround of enquiries and simple planning related applications, whilst maintaining a high professional standard.
Chichester District is a highly attractive place to live and work, home to a number of historic towns and villages, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Centred on the historic cathedral city of Chichester, it is a large rural district stretching from the south coast to the Surrey border and includes a large part of the South Downs National Park and the tranquil Chichester Harbour AONB. The District is currently facing significant pressure for new development particularly to meet the housing needs of the area, and given the need to protect the quality of the environment and the constraints of the District, makes for an interesting and varied caseload for planning officers. Chichester District Council offers flexible working patterns including the option of a 9 day fortnight, in addition to options to buy additional annual leave, payment of RTPI subscriptions and childcare vouchers. The Council promotes a work/life balance that suits young single professionals as well as family life, including the ability to operate from home as well as from the office.
Applications to work part-time will be considered.
